Danny Bowman became Concordia’s track & field and cross country head coach in July of 2014.
In 2018, Coach Bowman led the CUI women's track team to a third place finish and coached Sarah Herron to a trip to the NCAA Div. II Outdoor/Indoor Championships in the long jump. Bowman also coached five All-West Regional honorees in the indoor season. During the 2017 Track and Field season, both the men's and women's team placed fourth at the PacWest Championships with multiple individual championships. In 2016, in their first year in the PacWest, he coached four PacWest Individual Champions and his team set 13 school records. In 2015 he coached NAIA Indoor National Champion Ashley Bell and his men’s and women’s track & field teams both took third at the GSAC Championships, with 10 individual champions.
He took over a track & field program that has had off and on finishes at the NAIA Indoor & Outdoor National Championships, and a cross country program is steeped with tradition, including a women’s NAIA National Championship in 2000, and combined NAIA National Championships in 2005 and 2006.
Bowman comes most recently from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL, where he worked as the sprint/hurdle/relay coach, and was also an instructor at the institution, since 2011. He has led athletes to 86 school records, 24 athletes to individual NCCAA Championships, a women’s and men’s team NCCAA Championship, coached 46 NCCAA All-Americans, 31 NAIA All-Americans, and one NAIA National Champion. The ONU men’s and women’s programs won the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship from 2010-2014. Prior to ONU, he worked from 2007 to 2010 as the head coach of Idaho Falls High School in Idaho Falls, ID. While there he revived a dying high school track & field program and won two Boys Track & Field Conference Championships.
Additionally, during his time in Idaho, Bowman served as a youth pastor for the Idaho Falls Church of the Nazarene, helping the local youth grow personally and spiritually. From 2008 to 2009 he worked as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Taylorview Junior High in Idaho Falls. Bowman began his coaching career at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID, where he was their sprint coach from 2004-2007. His athletes broke 23 school records in his three seasons at NNU.
Bowman has been a member of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association since 2012 when he got his sprints/hurdles/relays specialist certification, and became USA Track & Field Level II Sprints/Hurdles/Relays certified in 2009.
He ran track & field at Northwest Nazarene University and earned his undergraduate in psychology, with an interdisciplinary emphasis, in 2005. He received his master’s in organizational leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in 2012.
He has been married to his wife Bekah for 11 years. The couple has two sons, Titus and Ely.
