CU Arena (Basketball/Volleyball/Stunt)
Built in 1989, CU Arena is the home court for Concordia University Irvine men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, and stunt competitions. The arena seats 2,400 fans and has long served as a centerpiece of Eagle athletics.
In the summer of 2023, CU Arena received a major update to reflect Concordia’s new Golden Eagles rebrand. The court now features a bold talon-swipe design at center court, dark brown paint inside the three-point line, and new “Concordia” and “Golden Eagles” lettering along the baselines. Flight Club signage highlights the student section led by The Hunt, while updated PacWest logos and the phrase “Defend the Nest” further enhance the game-day atmosphere.
Championship banners line the walls, honoring the Eagles’ proud history, including the 2003 and 2012 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championships and the 2012 Women’s Volleyball and 2013 Men’s Volleyball NAIA National Championships.
Hanging over center court is a four-sided scoreboard, with additional scoreboards at each end zone. The facility was previously upgraded in 2017 during the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II, which included new NCAA logos on the floor, enhanced seating, and gold VIP chairbacks behind the team benches and scorer’s table.
The Eagles Nest, is a private mezzanine-level viewing area with floor-to-ceiling glass, which also hosts special events throughout the year. Nearby, the concessions stand is operated during home games, and the mezzanine displays CUI’s athletics timeline, trophy cases, championship photos, and the Kenneth A. Walker Hall of Fame.
Additional facilities included:
Athletic Training Center: Added in 2002 and located on the lower level, with the original space repurposed in 2007 for athletic training instruction.
Locker Rooms: Built in 1989 and expanded in 2007, providing dedicated spaces for basketball, volleyball, cheer/STUNT, and officials.
Athletics Offices: Established in 2002 and expanded in 2007, headquartered on the mezzanine level in the southeast corner of the arena.
