A member of Concordia's faculty from 1984-2009, Dr. Ken Mangels first became officially involved in the Athletics Department in 1986, when Christ College (as it was then known) charted its course with both the NAIA and the newly formed Golden State Athletic Conference.
After he chaired the committee that chose to transition the school's affiliation to the NAIA and the GSAC, Mangels began what would become a 19-year span as Concordia's Faculty Athletic Representative.
In his final 18 years (1991-2009) as a Concordia professor and Dean of Arts and Sciences, Mangels kept the scorebook for the men's basketball home games.
Mangels, a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame at Concordia-Nebraska as a golfer, also kept score at several GSAC Playoff games.
