Paul Castaneda

Paul Castaneda was a two-time Indoor NAIA All-American and six-time Outdoor NAIA All-American for Concordia, and was an NAIA National Champion in the shot put in indoor and outdoor in 2007, only the second NAIA National Champion from Concordia. He competed for the Eagles from 2005 to his graduation in 2008. 

Castaneda, originally from Santa Ana, CA, and Santa Ana Valley High School, earned his B.A. in history from Concordia in 2008, and returned to get his master’s in education in 2012.  His teams placed in the top-30 all four years at the NAIA Indoor National Championships, 3722highlighted by an 11th place finish in 2007.  At the Outdoor NAIA National Championships, they finished in the top-26 all four years, and were ninth and eighth in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

He was crowned a GSAC Champion in the shot put in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, the only Concordia track & field athlete to win an event all four years.  He was a GSAC Champion in the discus in 2007 and 2008.  Castaneda was an Outdoor NAIA All-American in the shot put in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, and an Indoor NAIA All-American in 2007 and 2008.  He was an Outdoor NAIA All-American in the discus in 2007 and 2008.

After Graduation

He is currently a history teacher at his alma mater in Santa Ana, CA at Santa Ana Valley High School.
