Eagles Face Stiff Competition At SOCAL Tournament

Concordia traveled this past weekend October 10th-11th to compete in the SOCAL tournament in Los Angeles, CA. On Saturday there first match was against Stanford University for the second time in the 2015 season. Offensive players, Pedro Moraes and Vincent Giacalone scored doubles in the match. Goalie Jaime Saunders had seven saves throughout the match. Unfortunately it was not enough to defeat the Cardinals. Stanford defeated CUI with a box score of 7-25.
That same afternoon Concordia splashed back in the pool to compete against the Air Force Academy. The Eagles were defeated 10-23 with eight saves by Jaime Saunders. Assists from the Eagle bench were from Julian Myers and Jake Snyder to keep the Eagles in the running.
The following morning the Eagles were back in the water to compete against San Jose State University. CUI had a slow first quarter and kicked it into second gear when they took the lead to defeat the Spartans 10-8. Julian Myers and Spencer Hosch scored two goals for the Eagles and Rhett Turvey assisted in three goals for the match. Jaime Saunders had a strong defensive game with twelve saves for the match.
Last battle for the SOCAL tournament was played against Loyola Marymount University that Sunday afternoon. Santiago Rodriguez scored doubles for the match, but it wasn't enough to defeat LMU. CUI was defeated 4-10.
Concordia will be back in the water to compete this upcoming weekend the 17th against Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, CA.
