Concordia Finishes Homestand Strong Over Hawks

The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles completed a 5-1 home stand with a win over Holy Names inside CU Arena on Friday night, October 16, 3-0.

By the Numbers: Rachel Flynn led with 10 kills, and Hannah Andrews had six hitting .417.  Amber Rose and Ellie Ladensack each added five.  The Eagles served 10 aces on the night, with Taylor Dennison supplying six of them.

The Difference: Neither team hit well, but CUI hit .172 compared to -.024 for Holy Names.

Critical Plays: Amber Rose was effective in the middle early in set one, and the Eagles took a three-point advantage.  The Eagles were a bit sloppy from there and HNU tied the match.  A kill from Hannah Andrews and a block from Kyra Auten put CUI back up 16-13.  CUI pulled away and took the set 25-18.  After HNU controlled set two early, CUI led 11-10 on a Hawk error.  Andrews killed two on the outside for the 19-16 edge.  The Eagles finished it 25-19.  An ace from Ellie Ladensack and multiple kills from Flynn saw CUI lead 6-0 in set three.  CUI took the set 25-17 and never trailed.
