The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles fell in the second game of the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic in Stephenville, TX, 62-44, to Texas A&M Kingsville, on Saturday morning, taking advantage of a 19-0 fourth quarter run.
By the Numbers: Haley Brown scored 11 points for CUI, and Brittany Stafford and Gaby Johnson each grabbed 10 rebounds. Tyler Crockom dished four assists.
The Difference: The Eagles dominated the glass, 50-37, but were doomed by their 31 turnovers leading to 27 Kingsville points off turnovers.
Critical Plays: CUI trailed briefly in the first quarter, but tied it at 11 at the end on two free throws from Stafford. Kingsville started the second period on an 8-0 run, but again CUI closed to 23-22 at half on a three from Brown. Brown hit another three with three minutes left in the third quarter, and CUI led 38-37 at the end. With CUI leading 42-41 with seven minutes left in the game, Kingsville went on a 19-0 run to seize control.
What it Means: Concordia starts the season 0-2 at the conclusion of the tourney.
