Brian Gaul
The teams played to a 0-0 draw until 52:20 when CU's Val Barrios pounded home an unassisted goal from five yards out for her fourth goal of the year. Unfortunately, Concordia could not hold off the home Eagles. At 75:59 Biola's Amanda Otto took a pass up the field from Jessica Austin and slipped it by the goalkeepers' left side. The squads were seven minutes into the first golden goal overtime before BU's Miranda Starbeck one-touched a center pass from Morgan Gage for the game-winner.
Concordia was unable to muster a shot on goal after Biola tied the game at one. Concordia outshot Biola 13-9, but the teams tied at five shots on goal. Junior Megan Ferry started in goal for CU and had three saves, but fell to 0-1 on the year. Biola goalkeeper Briana Williams had four saves to go to 8-6-1.
#23 Concordia fell to 8-7 and 3-5 in the GSAC. The Eagles will most likely fall out of the top-25 for the first time this season after going 0-2 on the road this week. Biola improved to 8-6-1 and 5-3 in conference. CU currently sits in fifth place in the GSAC and trails Biola and The Master's by two games for the third slot. The Eagles will host #21 The Master's on Tuesday, October 23 at 3 pm at Eagles Field. Follow live stats at http://www.cuieagles.com/live/soccer/xlive.htm.
