Concordia traveled on September 5th to compete in the Whittier Open. This was their first match to start the fall 2015 season against Chapman University. In the first quarter CUI started off strong leading in goals 3-2 from Josh Mundell, Spencer Hosch, and Matthew Lange. As the match continued Chapman slipped away in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to take the victory 11-13.
Later that day Concordia splashed back in the water to compete against the University of La Verne for game two of the tournament. Josh Mundell continued his offensive streak with three goals in the 1st quarter. 8 total blocks by goal keeper Jaime Saunders made it possible for CUI to take the first win of the season with a score of 14-11.
On Sunday September 6th Concordia Traveled to San Diego, CA where they competed in the Triton Invitational. First match of the day was against the Bruins of UCLA. CUI was defeated 4-20, while two of the four goals were scored by Spencer Hosch the aggressor of the match.
The Eagles were back in the water to join the Trojans of USC for another difficult match that sunny Sunday afternoon. Goalie Jaime Saunders protected the net with a total of 14 saves for the game. Julian Myers and Josh Mundell scored double against the Trojans. CUI lost the match with a score of 6-25.
Concordia coach Dreason Barry has a strong preseason set for the Eagles. The next match will be in the Inland Empire Classic against Occidental College at 10:20am Saturday, September 12th.
