Eagles men's and women's swim competes in quad meet

The Concordia Eagles men's and women's swim team competed in La Mirada on Saturday against Azusa Pacific, CSU East Bay, and Biola.  The men defeated Biola 152.50-94.50 and the women fell to Azusa (204-96), CSU East Bay (206-66), and Biola (131-120).

The men's meet was a dual meet against Biola that started off with a 200 medley relay win by the Eagles with a time of 1:40.05 with a team containing Joshua Delarosa, Gianluca, Minh Dang, and John Dowd.  The Eagles had more depth throughout the afternoon and were able to win a majority of the 14 events.  First place individual finishes came from Riki Yamamoto in the 1,000 freestyle (10:01.71), 100 Breaststroke (1:04.25), and the 500 freestyle (4:51.04).  John Dowd had a pair of first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:44.23 and the 100 freestyle (47.15).  Dylan Aba finished first in the 50 freestyle (21.55) and Minh Dang tied for first in the 200 butterfly (2:01.20) and solely finished first in the 100 butterfly (54.35).  Joshua Delarosa also had a pair of firsts in the 200 backstroke (2:00.51) and in the 400 IM (4:20.67).  The men won over Biola 152.50-94.50.

On the women's side, the Eagles had numerous top 3 finishers in the 14 event format but were unable to overcome their opponents on the scoreboard.  Marleigh Aulis took third in the 1,000 freestyle (10:56.16).  Jessica Wilson finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.48) and first in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.56) to record one of two first place finishes for the lady Eagles.  Baliee Blankemeier took first place in the 200 butterfly (2:11.06) and second in the 400 IM (4:41.91).  The lady Eagles were unable to overcome Azusa, CSU East Bay, or Biola.

The Concordia Eagles men's and women's swim teams will look to close out the regular season on January 30th at 10 am in Malibu at the Pacific Collegiate Trials at Pepperdine.
