The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles completed a 3-0 Bay Area road trip with a commanding 85-54 win over Academy of Art on Wednesday night.
By the Numbers: Stephen Grosey was just short of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Geoff Gerlach led with 11 boards and Matt Scott scored 12 points. JT Roach and Justin Davis joined in double figures with 10. Davis also led with four assists.
The Difference: CUI dominated the rebounds 47-30 with 21 offensive boards. The Eagles also led in field goals, threes, free throws and a higher percentage in all three. The Eagles scored 32 second-chance points off those rebounds.
Critical Plays: Five minutes in Grosey hit a three and CUI was up 11-3. A layup from Scott and free throws from Grosey and Davis extended it to 27-12. The Eagles took a 46-28 lead into the half. Adam Turner had a three-point play early in the second half and Grosey converted on a rebound and score for a 25-point lead. A jumper from Scott grew it to 30 with 10 minutes left. The lead grew as big as 37 and no closer than 28 as won 85-54.Â
What it Means:Â CUI is 17-3 and 10-2, and still in first in the PacWest.
