Although the Women's Volleyball Team dropped a closely fought five-set match to Cal Baptist Saturday, the Eagles have no time to dwell on the loss.
The match against Cal Baptist landed Concordia tied for third with Dominican University in the PacWest. Their 7-2 conference record is one game behind CBU and two games behind the undefeated Dixie State Trailblazers.
Beginning Thursday, Concordia has the opportunity to obtain three PacWest wins in just five days.
First, the Eagles hit Hawai'i – Hilo's gym on Thursday at 10 p.m. The Vulcans are ranked sixth in the conference in digs, averaging 16 per set. Marley Strand-Nicolaisen is fourth in the PacWest in kills per set (3.94) and recorded 189 total. Setter Sienna Davis sits at fourth in assists per set (9.29).
At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Concordia travels to Laie, Hawaii to tango with BYU – Hawai'i.
The Seasiders (2-5) are led by sophomore middle blocker Brittany Waite, who is eighth in the conference in hitting percentage (.310). Sophomore Sofia Tonga is in the top 10 in blocks per set (.95) and kills (202).
Concordia concludes the trio of teams at 6 p.m. on Sunday with Chaminade University.
The Silverswords are on a two game winning streak, sweeping their last two opponents. Chaminade is third in hitting percentage (.219) and fourth in kills per set (12.75), but ranks last in digs per set (13.18). The Silverswords are second in aces to Concordia, who lead the conference with 123.
The Eagles lead the PacWest in multiple categories aside from aces.
Concordia ranks first in assists per set (12.68), kills per set (13.52) and holds competition to the lowest hitting percentage (.137).
Taylor Dennison accumulated 35 aces and 288 digs on the year. Amber Rose has a .352 hitting percentage with 72 blocks. Freshmen Cindy Tran is in the top 10 in hitting percentage, delivering a .296 average.
