In its first Western Water Polo Association game of the season, the Concordia Men's Water Polo team came up short with a 12-9 loss against Fresno Pacific University. The loss gives the Eagles an overall record of 4-11, and 0-1 in the WWPA, while the Sunbirds improve to 8-8 overall, and 1-3 in conference play.

The two teams were neck and neck throughout the game until the Sunbirds took a 3-point lead in the third quarter. The Eagles continued to fight, cutting the lead to one and trailed 10-9 with 4:03 left to play in the fourth.

The Sunbirds scored three more, but stellar defense from Fresno Pacific prevented Concordia from scoring the rest of the way, resulting in a 12-9 final mark.

Spencer Hosch led Concordia with four goals and six total points in the game. Jacob Saduddin and Messan Moore added two goals a piece.

The next game for the Eagles is at 6 p.m. on Thursday in La Jolla, Calif. against the Tritons of UC San Diego.
