Eagles Win First WWPA Game
Despite losing to UCSD, the Eagles bounced back to defeat Cal Tech

Irvine, Calif. - On Thursday, Oct. 20th the Concordia Men's Water Polo Team suffered its second Western Water Polo Association loss of the season against the Tritons of UC San Diego. The Eagles droped to 4-12 overall, and 0-2 in the conference as the Tritons strengthen their grasp on the conference, improving their record to 11-6 overall, 5-0 in conference play.
The Eagles kept the game close early in the contest, only trailing the Tritons 5-3 at the end of the first quarter. They saw the game slip away after scoring just one goal in both the second and third quarters combined. The team failed to capitalize on power plays during the match, going 1-10, which ultimately lead to the 21-7 loss to the Tritons.
Nick Walker and Spencer Hosch led the Eagles with two goals a piece, while Vincent Giacalone, Jeff Wheeler, and Matthew Lange each pitched in with one goal each.
Andy Moore filled the stat sheet for the Tritons with four goals, three assists and two steals in the game. Jack Ellinthorpe also contributed with four goals of his own as UC San Diego went on to win in convincing fashion.
Following their match against the Tritons, the Eagles went home to face off against the Cal Tech Beavers the next day. The team broke out of its scoring slump with an 18-10 win against the Beavers, boosting their record to 5-12 overall.
Matthew Lange propelled the Eagles to the win with six goals in the game and Cristiano Tomassetti contributed with three goals of his own.
The next game for the Eagles is on Thursday, October 27th against Loyola Marymount University.
