Irvine, Calif. – The Concordia Men's Water Polo Team faced off against Air Force Academy and Cal Baptist University in its last two games of the regular season.
On Saturday, Nov. 5th the Eagles lost a hard fought match against the Air Force Academy Falcons by a score of 16-9.
The loss gave the Eagles a record of 5-15 overall, and 0-5 in conference play. The Falcons improved to 8-15 overall, and 2-5 in the Western Water Polo Association.
In its next game, Concordia traveled to Riverside for another WWPA game against the Cal Baptist Lancers.
The Eagles were ready to compete as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period after a goal by Matthew Lange. The Lancers answered with two goals of their own, taking their first lead of the day.
Spencer Hosch responded with another goal for the Eagles with 4:16 left in the period, tying the game at two.
Cal Baptist went on to score eight straight after that, leaving Concordia with a lot of ground to make up.
A goal by Cristiano Tomassetti in the third period stopped the Lancer run, but it would not be enough as Eagles came up short again, losing to the Lancers by a score of 6-17.
With that loss, Concordia finishes the regular season with an overall record of 5-16, and 0-6 in the WWPA.
The Eagles have high hopes for next season as they are set to bring back everyone but their three seniors, Andrew Parese, Matthew Lange and Joshua Mundell.
