Concordia captures second straight win, leads PacWest

Box Score Concordia Men's Basketball won a physical game over the Point Loma Sea Lions, sealing an 83-63 victory Saturday night in CU Arena behind Brian Chambers and his spark off the bench.
Chambers scored 16 points, had four assists and five steals. Justin Davis dished out 15 points and three steals of his own. Reigning PacWest Freshmen Josh Hauser helped out with 11 points, one assist and a steal. Adam turner tallied eight points and provided a physical presence for the Eagles.
The Eagles saw the Sea Lions trade points with them, until Mike Hauser hit a three to open things up at 13-9. Two Chambers layups advanced the lead by four more. Case Bruton jumped in next, making two free throws and a layup.
With a 24-15 lead, the Hauser brothers built some momentum for the Eagles. J. Hauser hit a jumper for two and M. Hauser converted his steal into a layup.
Chambers ended the half with a shot from behind the arch, adding extra cushion to the Eagle lead and sending them to the break with a 45-29 lead. Â The Eagles went 4-9 from the three-point range and 54.5 percent from the field. Their trademark hands on defense gave them 9 steals.
While the intensity of the game sped up in the second, the Eagle offense did not slow down. The Sea Lions gained on Concordia at 49-40, but only temporarily. J. Hauser and Chambers continued to push points for the Eagles, taking a 19 point lead half way through the second period.
With 2:55 to play, Davis buried a three and made two free throws to finish out his night. Concordia closed it out with a twenty point lead.
Nine players scored for the Eagles and the team combined for 13 steals.
The Eagles take a short hiatus before returning to CU Arena for a matchup against Shepard University on Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. With a 3-1 PacWest record, Concordia now sits at first place in the conference.Â
