As we get set for the new year, the Concordia Men's Volleyball team looks to start its season off right as they host UC Irvine on Thursday. The upcoming season will be the last before the program officially enters the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball Conference, which is considered by many to be one of the best conferences in the nation.

The Eagles posted an overall record of 13-7 during their 2015-2016 campaign, with signature wins against division I opponents University of Princeton and Grand Canyon University. With a total of 16 returners, expectations are even higher this season.

Shawn Patchell enters his fourth year as the head coach for the program. The former NAIA National Coach of the Year holds a 56-28 overall record during his time at CUI.

Concordia brings back some key pieces in seniors Andrew Hammer, Joseph Pillon and Ryan Anselmo. The trio led the Eagles in kills and accounted for 42 percent of the team's points scored last season. They also return their two setters in Cristian Rodriguez and Chandler Gibb, who combined for 578 assists.

The Eagles will host UC Irvine on Thursday, December 29th at 7:00 pm. Live stats and video will be available at cuieagles.com.
