Seng Scores 16, Eagles Edged out by 'Eaters

The Concordia Women's Basketball Team took on the UC Irvine Anteaters Thursday night, and despite an evenly fought match though the first two quarters, the third half was costly.

The Eagles trailed by one at the conclusion of the first quarter. After trading points throughout the second, Judith Espinoza made two free throws and Sopavy Seng scored a three-point shot to enter the half up by one.

With a 33-32 score, the third quarter began. The Anteaters switched to attack mode and scored 40 points to the Eagles' eight. The 'Eaters held a commanding 31 point lead with 10 minutes to play. Despite slipping behind, Concordia continued to battle. They matched throughout the final quarter, each team putting up 20 points.

The Anteaters closed out the game with a 92-61 win.

Sopavy Seng led the Eagles with 16 points one steal and one assist. Morgan Bryant had nine points, two steals and two assists. Concordia shot 23.4 percent from the field and made 23 of 31 free throws.

Concordia returns to action on Jan. 3, and starts out 2017 with a trip to Hawai'i for a few PacWest matchups. They begin their four game road stretch against Chaminade University at 8 p.m. in Honolulu.
