Eagles Pick Up First Win Of Season Over Biola

This past Tuesday February 9th Concordia traveled to La Mirada, CA to the Biola Tennis Center to compete against the Eagles of Biola University. In the singles competition CUI came out with some fire to win taking all six wins for the day. #1 Ivana Vlakic defeated opponent Madeline Heer with a score of 6-1, 6-0. In the #2 position, Andrea Madrigal defeated Biolas Kathryn Ashford with a clean sweep of 6-0 for both sets. #3 Luisa Sterkel defeated Brooke Sanford 6-2, 6-1. In the #4 position Caitlyn Uzzii defeated Kelsey Post with the battle of the day going three sets 6-4, 4-6, 10-1. #5 Paris Lee defeated opposing Eagle Megan Ontiveros with a box score of 6-1, 6-0. Lastly in the #6 position Katherine Jensen took the win against Taliah Hightower 6-2, 6-0.
In the doubles competition CUI continued to play strong as #1 Samantha Schuster and partner Johanna Keeline defeated Madeline Heer and Kelsey Post with a box score of 8-2. In the #3 position Layla Accorsi and Grace Tom defeated opposing Eagle's Katie Boesl and Bailey Mcgeough with another box score of 8-2. The Eagles won overall with a score of 8-1.
The following Friday February 12th CUI had a home match in Costa Mesa, CA at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center versus California State University of Los Angeles. In the singles competition the Eagles only took one win from #5 Caitlyn Uzzii defeating opponent Ivanovic Snezana with a close box score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. CUI had another win for the doubles competition where #3 Ivana Vlakic and Kelsey Markle defeated Kayleigh Hall and partner Pyper Brown with a close score of 9-7. Concordia took an overall defeat with a score of 7-2.
They will be back on the court for some more competition this coming Tuesday February 23d against Hope University in Fullerton, CA at 2pm.
