Eagles Grab First Win Of 2016

The Eagles won their first game of the season at the Biola Tennis Center in La Mirada, CA with an overall record of 1-2.

In the first slot, Till Guttenberger defeated Philip Westwood 6-1 in game one and then finished it off with a 6-2 win in game two. Filip Burnac took the number two slot against Lucas Lee, coming back from a 4-6 loss to win the next two consecutively 6-1 and 10-8. In the fourth slot, Daniel Reddmann defeated Joe Turnquist with a score of 6-3 and 6-2. Harsha Manjunath put up a consistent win of 6-0 and 6-1 against Michael Vartuli in the fifth slot.

On the doubles side of the dueling Eagles, Guttenberger and Reddmann paired up in the first slot to defeat Mountain and Lee 8-5. Hon Ko and Manjunath took on Westwood and Turnquist, conquering them with a close score of 8-6. Burnac paired with Sanchez to defeat Garcia and Vartuli with a dominant score of 8-2.

The Eagles faced Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, February 20 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Courts in Claremont, CA. It was a tough day for the Eagles but there were a couple individuals that still performed admirably. Filip Burnac put up a good fight against Daniel Morkovine in the second singles slot, taking him to three sets, but ultimately losing with scores of 6-7, 7-5, and finally 8-10. Hon Ko and Manjunath provided the Eagles only win of the day in the second slot of doubles, defeating Max Macey and Bryan Mehall.

The Eagles will take on Hope International University on February 23 at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
