Eagles Drop Season Finale At Dixie

The Rundown:  The Concordia Eagles women's basketball team lost to Dixie State, 88-62, Saturday night in their last game of the season.

By the Numbers:  Zoe Goss scored 13 points for the eagles and had two assists.  Tyler Crockom added six.  The Eagles struggled to shoot from the floor and beyond the arc, shooting a field goal percentage of 34% and a three point percentage of 20%.  Dixie State shot well, 47% from both the field and from three.

The Difference:  The Eagles rebounded well with 44 combined offensive and defensive boards but didn't execute on second chance points as well as Dixie.  The Eagles also gave up 16 turnovers and allowed 18 points from them.

Critical Plays:  Early in the first, the Eagles found themselves behind 8-2 after a couple of three pointers from Dixie.  The Eagles then went on a 5-0 run to close the gap, 9-7, after Elizabeth Rudd knocked down a three.  From there Dixie went on an 8-0 run to take an 18-7 lead.  Gaby Johnson broke the drought with a layup at the four minute mark and the Eagles trailed 27-16 heading into the second.

The Eagles found themselves down by 18 three minutes into the second but closed the gap when Zoe Goss made a layup followed by a three from Ryan Robinson to make the score 38-27.  The Eagles would only score once more before the half and the score was 44-29 in favor of Dixie heading into the half.

Dixie extended their lead in the third by as much as 24 by the mid-way point of the third.  Gaby Johnson made a pair of layups and a three point shot to keep the Eagles hopes alive.  At the end of the third the Eagles trailed 50-69.

In the fourth, the Eagles were unable to make a run to close the 21 point gap and went basket for basket until the 2:30 mark when Dixie jumped out to an 86-60 lead. 
The game ended with a final score of 88-62.

What it Means:  The Eagles finish the 2015-2016 season on the road with a loss and a final record of 2-23 overall and 1-19 in the PacWest.
