#7 Eagles Fall Short to UCSD and APU

The Eagles suffered their first loss of the season against the #4 UCSD Tritons last Saturday at the Northview courts in La Jolla, CA. UCSD
Overall it was a tough day for Eagles, but there were a couple bright spots as they fell to UC San Diego. Filip Burnac put a strong showing against Eric Tseng in slot two, coming back from a 4-6 loss to win the next two conclusively 6-3 and 10-8 respectively. The Eagles begin the year with a regional ranking of seven.
The Eagles faced Azusa Pacific on Saturday, February 6 at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center in Costa Mesa, CA. While the final results were not favorable to the Eagles, a couple individuals still performed admirably. Till Guttenberger put up a good fight against Christian Schmid in the first singles slot, taking him to three sets, but ultimately losing with scores of 6-2, 3-6, and 3-6. Filip Burnac defeated Pascal Engel with scores of 6-1 and 7-5. Harsha Manjunath put up a strong game against Shepard Newcomb in the fifth slot losing the first set 3-6 and coming back to win the next to sets with scores of 6-4 and 11-9.
The Eagles look to rebound against Biola tomorrow at 3:30 in La Mirada, CA.Â
