CUI Plays Challenging Three-Match Stretch

The Eagles took on Irvine Valley College on March 23rd in Huntington Beach and lost 2-3.
Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames lost to Reinking/Earnest in two sets with close scores of 21-23 and 18-21. In the second slot, Marissa Boyd and Amber Rose partnered up with play Roethlisberger/Matt, but ultimately falling short in two sets with scores 15-21 in both sets. In the third slot, Logan Grove teamed up with Madeline Deters to beat Scheevel/Aguilar with dominating scores 21-13 and 21-15. Tristan Self and Kyra Auten competed against Goodman/Blevins in three sets with scores 21-13, 17-21, and coming out with the win in the third set 15-11. In the fifth slot, Morgan Nunley and Katie Napier lost to Tuliau/Askins in a close match with scores 18-21 in both sets.
Later in the day CUI, battled Nebraska, the reigning NCAA Division I Indoor National Champions, and fell 1-4.
Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames competed against Kadie Rolfzen and Kelly Hunter losing with scores 7-21 and 12-21. In the second slot, Marissa Boyd and Amber Rose played against Amber Rolfzen and Justine Wong-Orantes putting up a tough fight in the second game, but ultimately losing with scores 6-21 and 17-21. In the third slot, Annika Albrecht and Olivia Boender defeated Madeline Deters and Logan Grove with scores 16-21 and 7-21. In the fourth slot, Tristan Self and Kyra Auten took Kenzie Maloney and Briana Holman to three sets but losing with close scores 22-20, 20-22, and 5-15. In the fifth slot, Katie Napier and Morgan Nunley took away the win against Sydney Townsend and Tiani Reeves with scores 21-14 and 21-18.
California Polytechnic State University took the win over Concordia with a 2-3 score, at Irvine Valley College in Irvine.
Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames competed against Taylor Nelson and Sawi Neeman, ultimately losing 14-21 and 15-21. In the second slot, Amber Rose and Marissa Boyd played Rae Greisen and Adlee Van Windam falling short in two sets with scores 15-21 and 13-21. Logan Grove and Madeline Deters put up a strong fight against Jacqui Martin and Anna Gorman but were defeated in two sets 17-21 and 20-22. In the fourth slot, Kyra Avten teamed up with Tristan Self to take the win in two sets with scores 21-18 and 21-9. In the fifth set, Morgan Nunley and Katie Napier defeated Megan Wagner and Claire Holehouse in two sets 21-16 and 21-14.
Concordia travels to Northridge on Thursday for matches against Long Beach State and CSU Northridge.
