CUI Battles Sea Lions, Faces Tough Middlebury Squad

On March 23, CUI fell to Point Loma, 3-6, at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Till Guttenberger defeated Andre Staab coming back from a 6-7 in the first set and coming back 7-5 the next two sets. In the second slot, Filip Burnac put up a tough fight against Martin Blaho with scores 6-4, 4-6, and 7-5. In the fifth slot, Daniel Reddmann had a solid match against CJ Erion winning in two sets with scores 6-4 and 7-6.
In the doubles competition, Till Guttenberger and Daniel Reddmann competed against Andre Staab and Daniel Milliken putting up a tough loss with a score of 8-9. In the third slot, Filip Burnac and Harsha Manjunath lost to Martin Blaho and James Tenbroeck with another close score 8-9.
On March 26th, the Eagles competed against #3 Middlebury at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center in Costa Mesa, CA.
Overall it was a tough day for the Eagles but there were some bright points on the day. In the first slot, Till Guttenberger put up a tough fight against Noah Farrell coming back to win the second set 6-2 after losing the first 1-6. The third set was close but he ultimately lost with a score of 5-7. In the second slot, Filip Burnac defeated Ari Smolyar in three sets after losing the first set 3-6. Filip Burnac came back to win the next two sets with scores 6-4 and 14-12, respectively. In slot four, Santiago Sanchez competed against William de Quant, losing in three sets with scores 1-6, 6-3, and 3-10.
The Concordia Eagles are 3-11 on the season with a #7 Regional ranking while Middlebury is 4-0 with a #1 Regional Ranking.
The Eagles will compete against the University of California, San Diego on March 30th at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.Â
