Eagles Go 1-2 In Rainy Stretch

On Wednesday March 2nd Concordia traveled to San Francisco, CA to compete against the Academy of Art University at the San Francisco Tennis Club. Starting off the singles competition with a strong start #1 Ivana Vlakic defeated opponent Andrievieva Taisiia with a  score of 6-1, 7-6. Ivana Vlakic was the only Eagle to defeat Academy of Art in the singles completion. In the doubles competition #2 Samantha Schuster and partner Johanna Keeline defeated Michelle Dandik and partner Paula Alcantara with a box score of 8-6. These winds weren't enough to take down the Academy of Art and Concordia lost with a score of 7-8 overall.

The following day March 3rd Concordia traveled further south to compete against Sonoma State University at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park. In the singles competition Johanna Keeline had a strong match and defeated Karlee Budge with a score of 7-5,6-3. In the double competition #26 national ranked Sonoma state battled with the Eagles and defeated all three matches. This lead to Sonoma taking the overall win with a box score of 5-1.

On March 8th Concordia had a home match at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center where they competed against the Westmont Warriors. CUI had a strong singles competition taking all 6 wins for the day. #1 Ivana Vlakic had a close match and went three rounds against Warrior Lauren Stratman. Ivana took the first set with a score of 6-4 and the third set with a score of 6-3. #2 Andrea Madrigal had a solid match defeating opponent Ines Costamagna 6-4, 6-0. #3 Samantha Schuster defeated Haley Strandness 6-1,    6-3. #5 Johanna Keeline had a solid match against Zarina Huber defeating with a clean sweep of 6-0 in both sets. Lastly, #6 Cailtlin Uzzi defeated Fernanada Rivera 6-3, 6-4. I n the doubles competition the Eagles took the win in the #2 and #3 position making the overall box score 8-1 for CUI.

Tune in this Thursday, March 10th at 9 am as Concordia competes against Utah State University for a home match at CU Tennis Courts.
