The women's water polo team for CUI traveled to Claremont, CA to compete in the Convergence tournament this past weekend on March 4th and 5th. The Eagles jumped in the pool ready to play their first match versus California Lutheran University. Kelsey Stumm had the strongest offensive day scoring a total of 4 out of the 9 goals of the match. Trailing right behind her was teammate Emily Varisco taking 3 goals for the Eagles. Although Concordia battled in the 4th quarter to close the goal gap it wasn't enough to defeat CLU and the match ended with a box score of 9-15.

Later that day Concordia was back in the water to compete against the home team Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Again Kelsey Stumm and teammate Emily Varisco had two goals each. While the Eagles battled defensively, they were defeated with a score of 4-8.

The following day CUI competed against the University of LaVerne Leopards and struggled to keep up in the first half of the match. They were outscored 3 to 10. This was too much to catch up and the Eagles lost with a score of 6-18.

The last match of the Convergence Tournament was played against the University of Redlands that Saturday afternoon. Both teams battled scoring back and forth the first two quarters of the match. Corbin Bricks, Jastine Vazquez and Kelsey Stumm played a strong offensive game scoring a combined score of 8 goals in the first half. In the second half of the match Redlands trailed away defeating the Eagles with a box score of 11-18.

Concordia will be back in the pool to compete against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds on Saturday, March 12th in Fresno, CA.
