CUI Rides Momentum Of Win Over Caltech Into Trip Up North

Last Friday, April 8th the Concordia women's water polo team traveled up to Pasadena, CA to compete against the California Institute of Technology for an away match.
The Beavers and the Eagles splashed in the pool that afternoon with a start time of 4 pm. Â Junior utility player Emily Varisco had an outstanding match scoring 6 of the 19 goals for the Eagles and started CUI strong with four goals in the first half. Trailing behind with another strong offensive game was sophomore driver Anika Peterson with five goals in the net. Strongest offensive quarters for the Eagles were in the 1st and 3rd and they continued to put pressure on Cal Tech throughout the entire match.
The score was 9-6 with the Eagles in the lead starting off the second half of the match. CUI continued to be a driving force and had junior attacker Kelsey Stumm scored three goals and sophomore Jastine Vazquez scored two in the 4th to make it an end box score of 19-10 for the Eagles. Taking the win on Friday the Eagles are preparing for their next away match.
They will be back in the water to compete April 15th up north against Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA at 3:30 pm.
