CUI Just Edged By CSUN, Defeat Golden West

On April 14 at Irvine Valley College, CUI battled hard against CSU Northridge, falling 1-4.  In the first slot, Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames competed against Lauren Conati and Katie Sato losing the first set 14-21. In the second set, Flynn and Ames won with a score 21-15 but in the third set they fell short with a 12-15 loss. In the second slot, Amber Rose and Marissa Boyd played against Julie Haake and Maddie Leiphardt losing in two sets 21-13. In the third slot, Kyra Auten and Taylor Dennison put up a strong fight against Aeryn Owens and Erin Indermill but ultimately losing in three sets with scores 16-21, 21-13, and 11-15. In the fourth slot, Madeline Deters and Ellie Ladensack lost in two sets 13-21 and 17-21. In the fifth set, Logan Grove teamed up with Kailey Dudevoir to defeat Nicolette Stork and Nicolette Pinkney in two sets 22-20 in both sets. In the last slot, Morgan Nunley and Katie Napier came back to win in three sets after losing the first set 9-21. The last two sets were a different story coming up on top with a 23-21 and 15-11 victory.

On April 15th, the Eagles defeated Golden West with a 4-1 victory. In the first slot, Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames lost in two sets to Jasmine Hogan and Jill Pineda with scores 15-21 and 17-21. In the second slot, Amber Rose and Marissa Boyd defeated Cassidy Paperny and Daisy Gonzalez in two sets 21-15 and 21-18, respectively. In the third slot, Kyra Auten and Taylor Dennison competed against Annie Ellis and Antoni Utke and were able to pull out a win in two sets with scores 21-15 and 21-19. In the fourth slot, Madeline Deters teamed up with Ellie Ladensack to dominate in two sets against Alyson Utke and Kate Stanovich with scores 21-9 and 21-12. In the fifth slot, Kelsey Osgood and Baileigh Graham were no match for Logan Grove and Kailey Dudevoir as they pulled out a two set victory 21-5 and 21-16.

The Eagles will take on San Diego State University on April 21st at Irvine Valley College in their season finale.
