The Concordia Eagles split a doubleheader with Dixie State on Saturday, April 30
th, in the final doubleheader of the Eagles season. The Eagles overall record drops to 21-28 and 17-18 in the PacWest.
Game 1: Concordia 5, Dixie State 4
The Eagles recorded nine hits, scored five runs, and made no errors in the won.
On the mound for the Eagles was
Collin Orellana. He allowed two runs on six hits and pitched 4.2 innings.Â
Garrett Kraemer pitched 4.1 innings and struck out a batter. He allowed two runs on two hits and picked up the win. His record stands at 3-1 on the season.
John Bornhop went 2-4 in the game, hitting a three-run homer in the first to give the Eagles the 3-0 edge.Â
The Trailblazers rallied in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring two runs off of a triple and a single to take a 4-3 lead.
Spencer Nielsen was 2-4 and had an RBI to tie the game at four in the eighth after singling to left field and driving home
Ryan Land.Â
The Eagles scored the go ahead run in the eighth when
Chad Whiteaker hit an RBI single up the middle to bring in
John Bornhop. Whiteaker was 2-4 in the outing with one RBI.
The Eagles held on in the ninth to defeat the Trailblazers 5-4.
Game 2: Concordia 2, Dixie State 9
On the mound for the Eagles to start the game was
Morgan Brannock. He had one strikeout and allowed three runs on four hits. Brannock was charged with the loss and his record is 0-4 on the year.Â
Joe Ehlert pitched 0.2 innings and had a strikeout.Â
Nick Boyett came in for the fifth and sixth inning and allowed three runs on five hits.Â
Dallas Draviczki finished the game for the Eagles and had a strikeout. He allowed three runs and three hits.
Luke Van Holten hit a sac bunt in the second to score the first run of the game for the Eagles. Van Holten's RBI made the score 2-1, still in favor of the Trailblazers.
Dixie State tacked on four straight runs after three singles and a double gave them a 6-1 lead in the sixth.
Spencer Nielsen homered to left field in the sixth. He went 1-3 with one RBI in the outing.
Dixie continued to put the ball in play and scored three runs in the seventh. The final score was in favor of the Trailblazers, 2-9.
The last game of the 2016 season for the Eagles is on Sunday, May 1
st at 1 PM on Eagles Field. The senior day ceremony will take place promptly at 12:20 PM.
