CUI Battles Tough Opponents In CSUN and LBSU

Concordia Falls Short to CSU Northridge and Long Beach State

The Concordia Eagles fell to CSU Northridge, 0-5, in the first match of two in Northridge on March 31.

In the first slot, Rachel Flynn teamed up with Kaila Ames against Lauren Conati and Katie Sato. Flynn and Ames dropped the first set with a score of 15-21 and came back to win the second set with a close score 21-19 and dropping in the third set with a score 10-15. In the second slot, Marissa Boyd and Amber Rose competed against Julie Haake and Maddie Leiphardt,, losing in two sets with scores 14-21 and 23-21. In the third slot, Logan Grove and Kailey Dudeviour played Nada Dragovic and Kamden Maas winning the first set 21-13 but could not pull out the win the next two sets with scores 8-21 and 11-15. In the fourth slot, Kyra Auten and Tristan Self played against Rachel Gam and Kristey Markle losing with a score 13-21 in both sets. In the fifth slot, Madeline Deters and Olivia Zolezzi competed against Erin Indermill and Aeryn Owens dropping in two sets with scores 18-21. In the sixth slot, Erica Anthony and Ellie Ladensack lost the first set 6-21 but could not pull out the win in the second set against Nicolette Stork and Nicolette Pinkey with a close score 20-22.

Overall it was a tough day for the Eagles as they lost to Long Beach State with a final score 1-4 at CSU Northridge. In the first slot, Rachel Flynn and Kaila Ames lost in two sets to Morea Wagner and Zoi Konstantopoulou with scores 9-21 and 12-21. In the second slot, Marissa Boyd and Amber Rose had a tough loss against Rachel Nieto and Nele Barber with scores 9-21 and 10-21. In the third slot, Logan Grove and Kailey Dudevoir competed hard in the second set after dropping the first set 10-21 against Sammee Thomas and Kobi Pekich, but ultimately losing with a close score 20-22. In the fourth set, Kyra Auten teamed up with Tristan Self to defeat Mykah Wilson and Megan Kruidhof in two sets with scores 21-17 and 21-14. In the fifth slot, Ariana Garner and Peyton Grahovac defeated Madeline Deters and Olivia Zolezzi in two sets with scores 17-21 and 14-21. In the sixth slot, Katie Napier and Morgan Nunley lost in two sets against Ciana Wagner and Hannah Henriksen but put up a good fight with scores 18-21 and 20-22.

The Eagles will play an exhibition match against Fullerton College on April 6th in Fullerton, CA.
