Concordia Splits Matches Heading Into Regular-Season Finale

The Eagles were downed by UC San Diego in Costa Mesa, 2-7, on March 30.

Till Guttenberger defeated Eric Tseng in two dominating sets with scores 6-4 and 6-2. In the second slot, Filip Burnac went to three sets against Justin Zhang wining the first set 6-1 and dropping set two with a score 2-6. In the third set, Burnac took the win with a close score 7-6. In the fourth slot, Santiago Sanchez took Rodrigo Amaral to three sets but ultimately losing the last two sets with scores 7-5, 6-7, and 0-6. In the sixth slot, Harsha Manjunath competed against Richard Han and took him to three sets. Harsha lost the first set with a score 3-6 and came back in the second set with a 6-2 win. However in the third set, Harsha could not pull out the win and lost in the third set 3-6.

The doubles competition was not in favor for the Eagles, but all three slots played by Till Guttenberger and Daniel Reddmann, Santiago Sanchez and Man Hon Ko, and Filip Burnac and Harsha Manjuath lost with close scores 6-8.

On April 1st, the Eagles competed against Arizona Christian and came out with a close win 5-4.

The Eagles winning five of the six slots dominated the singles competition. In the first slot, Till Guttenberger beat Tyler Cawthorne in two sets with scores 6-3 and 6-2, respectively. In the second slot, Filip Burnac defeated Santiago Galeffi coming back from a loss on the first set with a score 4-6. The following two sets were no competition for Burnac as he won with scores 6-1. In the third slot, Man Hon Ko played Seth Moore and won in two sets 6-3 and 7-5. In the fifth slot, David Castano was no match for Daniel Reddmann as he dominated in two sets with scores 6-0 and 6-1. In the sixth set, Harsha Manjunath defeated Michael Munguia with scores 6-2 and 6-3.

The Eagles put up a strong fight in the doubles competition was not able to pull out a win. In the first slot, Till Guttenberger and Daniel Reddmann played Ezequiel Suarez and Tyler Cawthorne losing with a close score of 7-9. In the second set, Santiago Sanchez and Man Hon Ko competed against Michael Munguia and Santiago Galeffi but ultimately losing with a score 3-8. In the third set, Filip Burnac teamed up with Harsha Manjunath to play Seth Moore and Macen Vargas, but ultimately losing in a tight battle with a score of 8-9.

The Eagles wrap up their regular season this Friday at 1:30 pm at Azusa Pacific.
