CUI Falls To Azusa Pacific
Brooke Marino
This past Saturday April 2nd the Concordia the women's water polo team traveled to Azusa Pacific to compete against the APU Cougars. It was a beautiful and sunny day in California to splash in the water and compete. The Eagles scored in the 1st quarter by #2 Emily Varisco. Azusa started the match off with a strong first half putting CUI in a defensive scramble. Goalie Madeylnn Knust had seven saves in the first half alone. As Knust continued with five more saves in the second quarter, Jastine Vasquez scored a goal in the third quarter and teammate Kelsey Stumm took three goals down by the Cougars scoring one in all three remaining quarters of the match. The Eagles had a strong defensive match but it wasn't enough offensively to pull through. The box score ended with a loss of 5-20.
CUI will be back in the water to compete against the Cal Tech Beavers on April 8th in Pasadena, CA for an afternoon match at 4 pm.
