Concordia offense shuts down Chaminade

Box Score In the previous Concordia vs. Chaminade show down, the Eagles lost to the Silverswords 83-88, despite having an early lead in the game. In Saturday's rematch, the Eagles came out hungry to reclaim the win they let slip away earlier this month. Their efforts prevailed and the Eagles edged out Chaminade 85-71 behind an explosive offense.
The game started out slow for Concordia, slipping behind by a large margin to the Silverswords.
"We weren't playing tough enough and they were too comfortable and we needed to play tougher on defense and to finish on offense," Head Coach
Ken Ammann said.
Against a strong Chaminade lineup, the Eagles needed to respond to the pressure.
"That wasn't the start we wanted," Ammann added. "But we kept our poise and I was really proud of our guys for that. We kept battling and fortunately we came back and took the lead in the first half."
The offensive comeback was anchored by senior
Justin Davis, who delivered precise shooting to help the Eagles build momentum.
"I thought Justin had his best game maybe of his career," Ammann said. "I thought he moved the ball well and he ended up getting great shots."
Aside from Davis' game, Ammann attributes the win to ball movement and fierce focus.
"We stayed focused for a full 40 minutes tonight," Ammann said. "That was one thing we did better today."
Concordia's full 40 minutes of play not only earned a PacWest win, but entertained the packed CU Arena for homecoming weekend. The Eagles face Notre Dame de Nemur next. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1st at CU Arena.
