The Eagles dropped a pair of close contests at the Gary Troyer Tournament Saturday, both by one goal.
Concordia 10, Cal Lutheran 11
Concordia and Cal Lutheran clashed first on Saturday, with the Kingsman slightly edging out the Eagles. Despite scoring five in the first, The Kingsmen reduced the Eagle scoring the remainder of the match, holding them to three in the second, two in the third and scoreless in the final quarter. The Eagles entered the fourth quarter with a slim 10-9 lead, but couldn't hold off the Kingsmen. Cal Lutheran's two goals solidified their win.
Jake Snyder tallied three goals and two steals against the Kingsman, along with seven shots. Patrick Zsiros and Messan Moore added two goals and two steals each. John Roberts, Spencer Hosch and Nick Walker contributed one goal each.
Concordia 11, CMS 12
Once again, the Eagles exploded out of the gates with five goals in the first quarter and only allowing one from their opponent. In the second, the Stags stepped up their offense with five goals to Concordia's three. In the third, the two teams posted one each. But the decision was made in the final quarter. Trailing 7-9, Claremont came up with five goals to narrowly sneak past the Eagles for the win.
Walker scored three goals on three shots and Snyder and Hosch had two apiece. Goal keeper Alfredo De La Mora made 12 saves.
The two losses leave the Eagles at .500 on the year with seven wins and seven losses. October 14, the Eagles go against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds at 12 P.M. in Fresno, Calif.
