Game 1: Concordia – 10, Airforce – 15
In the first game of the WWPA Conference Tournament, the Eagles fell 15-10 to the Airforce Academy. The Eagles' opponents came out strong and scored five goals in the first two periods. Angel Rojas and Spencer Hosch combined for three goals in the first, but the Eagles were held scoreless in the second.
In the third period, Concordia stepped up its defense and held the Airforce to two goals while scoring four of their own from Hosch, John Roberts and Patrik Zsiros. In the fourth, Zsiros added his second goal and Hosch posted his fifth, but it wasn't enough to reclaim control of the game. Joshua Mundell had two assists and three steals. Rojas racked up two assists and two steals to go along with his goal. Alfredo De La Mora saved eight shots with two steals.
Game 2: Concordia – 13, Fresno Pacific – 9
Concordia's steady scoring helped push them to a win in its second matchup at the WWPA Tournament. Nick Walker led the Eagles with three goals, one assist and three steals. Hosch posted three goals, three steals and an assist. Rojas led the team with 10 shots, six goals and one steal.
Hosch provided the first point of the game on the pass from Walker. Then, Fresno Pacific tied the game on a shot from Kyle Eoff. Rojas retaliated just 22 seconds later, but the Sunbirds struck with three more in the first. Hosch kept the Eagles within one at the end of the first. In the second, Concordia fought Fresno Pacific off and put away three shots while only allowing one for the 6-5 lead entering the third. Walker extended the Eagles' lead with back-to-back goals and Rojas followed with Zsiros on the assist. FPU went on to add two more to its total, but Hosch pushed the gap with one more to end the third.
In the final quarter, Rojas and Walker worked up three combined goals to secure the 13-9 victory.
Sunday, the Eagles play against Santa Clara at 9:40 a.m. for fifth place. No. 1 UC Davis and No. 2 UC San Diego will meet in the championship.
