Box Score ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. — On Friday night, The Concordia Men's Basketball team opened its season with the Disney Tip-Off Classic tournament at Santiago Canyon College. The Eagles fell to Thomas Jefferson University 79-61 despite the 23 point effort by Brian Chambers.
The Eagles battled Thomas Jefferson University, an NCAA Div. II foe from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Jefferson was picked to finish first in the CACC South Division preseason poll on Wednesday afternoon. Last season, the Rams went 21-9 including 16-3 in conference before falling in the CACC Semifinals.
The game started in close quarters. Jefferson took the lead but Concordia was not far behind. As the game progressed, the gap grew and Thomas Jefferson University got the win, 79-61.
Chambers lead the Eagles with 23 points while JT Roach racked up 12. Chambers had six free throw opportunities and all six were good for a free throw percentage of 100.
Tad Dufelmeier recorded seven rebounds and six assists.
Kylan Guerra lead Jefferson with 23 points. Guerra was named CACC rookie of the year in the 2016 season.
The Eagles return to the court on Sunday, November 5th for the final game of the Disney Tip-Off Classic at 5:45pm.
