In their final game of the season, the Concordia Men's Soccer team battled the Academy of Art Urban Knights. The Eagles fought the entire game, but dropped the match 0-1.
William Whiddon had the start in the goal for the Eagles coming off an eight-save performance the day before. He made his first save of the game just three minutes in.
Eric Torres and
Jose Garfias each took shots for Concordia but couldn't find the net.
Alex Walsh of ARTU took a shot at the 23-minute mark but Whiddon was there to make another save.
The first Eagle shot on goal came off a header from Austin Nazar, but he was denied by the Urban Knight goalie.
Academy of Art got on the board with a goal from Jaret Gil. Whiddon made a save on a shot from Bobby Gutierrez and Gil took the deflected ball and scored from the right side.
The Urban Knights took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Saul Al Ocampo took over in the goal in the second half and saved his first shot in the 57
th minute of the match.
The Eagles attempted to tie the game when
Ari Claro sent a corner kick into the box. Torres' header was sent just over the goal.
The Urban Knights hung on to win 1-0 in the final game of the season.
With four saves in the game, Whiddon ended his senior season with 57 saves. He led the conference in goals against average at .877.
Ocampo made two saves in his 37 minutes. Torres led the Eagles' offensive efforts with five shots.
The Eagles end their 2017 campaign, their first as full NCAA members, with a 9-5-3 record overall and 8-3-2 in PacWest play. Concordia Men's Soccer finished fourth in the PacWest.
