Concordia Softball started day two of the Dixie State Easton Classic with a big win over Montana State Billings, and Lauren Rodriguez had a lot to do with it.

Rodriguez brought home six of the Eagles' 11 runs on two homers and a double.

The Eagles, who were up 4-0 in the top of the third, entered the fourth at a 4-4 tie with the Yellow Jackets. In the fifth, one Rodriguez home run gave the Eagles a 7-4 lead. Concordia closed the game out in the seventh, scoring four more runs. They held the Yellow Jacket offense in the final at bat to secure the 11-4 win.

McKinsey Thorpe was 2-3 with two RBI and two walks. Sarah Kretschmar complied two hits and one run on the game. Haylee Kloosterman and Heather Nonora had one hit a piece.

Kailey Palazzolo threw four innings and totaled three strike outs. Jordan Quinn came in to finish out the game with three innings of her own, one strike out and only one allowed hit.

Concordia demonstrated its resilience once again at the tournament against the Colorado Mesa Mavericks.

The Mavericks took a two run lead in the fourth, but the Eagles began to chip away at it immediately.

Amanda Gjertsen opened things up with a double to left field. Palazzolo struck next with a bunting single. Amy Eilefson's ground ball drove in the tying run.

The Mavericks mustered up one more run in the fifth, but so did the Eagles. Mackenzie Graham singled to left field and moved to second base on Kretschmar's grounder. Alyssa Turner's turn came next. She double to right field for the RBI.

After holding the Mavericks in the sixth, Concordia's offense changed the game again. Gjertsen got things going with a single to left and Palazzolo reached safely on an error. Concordia then brought two home after a Maverick's error to claim the 4-3 lead.

In Colorado Mesa's last at bat, a pop up and two grounders finished things off and gave the Eagles a third straight win.

Concordia concludes the Dixie State Easton Classic Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Colorado State University - Pueblo.
