Concordia Falls Short at Azusa

Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – The Concordia Women's Basketball team traveled to Azusa Pacific for another PacWest matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were unable to keep up with the Cougar offense in the second half and lost the game by a score of 77-65.
The first quarter was a bumpy road for the Eagles, as they conceded a 19-8 lead to the Cougars. CUI used a 21 to 10 run in the second quarter to turn things around and found themselves all tied up at 29 by the end of the half.
The two teams put on an offensive clinic in the third quarter, combining for 43 points. The Eagles put up a heck of a fight but the cougars came away with a slight lead of three after the quarter.
Concordia hoped to keep their offense flowing in the fourth but the Cougars had different plans. The Eagles were held to 16 points in the quarter and finished the game with a shooting percentage of 37.3 percent. Concordia also failed to take advantage at the free throw line, shooting only 50 percent on 14 attempts.
Montana Walters and
Portia Neale put up the bulk of the points for the Eagles in the game. Walters went for 18 points, four assist and three steals, while Neale followed with 15 points, four assists and a steal.
The loss brings the Eagles record to 9-13 overall and 7-9 in conference, and the Cougars improve to 13-12, and 11-6 in conference.
