Eagles snag a win and a tie in home opener

Box Score 2 After a series of road tournaments, Concordia Softball finally returned to Eagles Field for its first home double header of 2017. They faced off with Biola University on Tuesday, and ended the day with one win and one tie.
Game 1:
With Grayson Harvey on the mound, the Eagles and Biola went scoreless until the bottom of the second.
Lauren Rodriguez reached on a one out single through the left side and moved to second on Sarah Kretschmar's walk. Kaylee Dalgarn loaded the bases with two outs and an error on McKinsey Thorpe's hit brought in two.
The next inning, The Eagles drove in three more. Amanda Gjertsen reached base on an error and advanced to second on the throw. Kailey Palazzolo drew a walk and a double steal placed her and Gjersten on second a third. Alyssa Turner stepped up next, knocking in one run on a single to right field. The Eagle offense continued to roll. Amy Eilefson doubled to left field for two more runs.
Concordia added one more run in the fifth on Turner's solo homerun over the left field fence. They held Biola the final two at bats to claim the 6-0 win.
Harvey threw six innings allowing only three hits with eight strike outs. Jordan Quinn finished the game off in the top of the seventh with one hit and two strike outs.
Game 2:
After battling into extra innings, the game was called at a 3-3 toe due to low light.
Biola jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first.
Concordia responded swiftly. Ryann Ferguson opened up the game with a single through the right side. Thorpe's sacrifice bunt moved Ferguson to second. Turner stayed hot at the plate and singled up the middle to bring Ferguson home.
In the bottom of the third, Concordia extended the lead to three. Thorpe led off with a single and moved to second on Turner's base hit. Miller was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. A Biola error on Michelle Lieng's hit let two Eagles cross the plate.
Biola added one more run in the fourth and one in the top of seven to send the game to extra innings. The Eagles escaped a bases loaded jam to avoid falling behind. After the bottom of the eighth, the game was called.
The Eagles, now 7-3-1, face Colorado School of Mines on Monday, Feb. 20. The double header begins at 11 a.m.Â
