Women's Basketball Celebrates Seniors in Final Home Game

Box Score The 2016-17 season came to a close on Thursday night for the Concordia Women's Basketball team as the Eagles welcomed the California Baptist Lancers to the CU Arena for the final game of the season.

The Eagles started the night by honoring their four seniors:
Elizabeth Rudd,
Ryan Robinson, Gabby Johnson, and
Haley Brown. Following the ceremony, Concordia battled with the Lancers but fell to the potent CBU offense.

Rudd, a senior out of Gilbert Arizona, leaves the Eagles after spending all four years as a part of the program. She appeared in 67 games, starting in 22. She had 54 career three-pointers, making her a career .329 three-point shooter. In her junior season, Rudd led the team with 40 three-pointers. She tallied 242 points in her career and grabbed 121 rebounds.

Robinson came to Concordia from Bethesda, playing two seasons at Concordia. She appeared in 23 games, totaling 100 points in her career with the Eagles. She grabbed 51 rebounds and was a career .667 free throw shooter.

Johnson spent four years at Concordia. The senior from Fontana appeared in 53 games in her career and totaled 369 points. She grabbed 229 boards, averaging 4.3 per game. In her freshman year, she scored a career-high 13 points and pulled down career-best six rebounds against Westmont in the GSAC tournament.Â

Brown came to Concordia from TCU, playing for the Eagles for two seasons. She appeared in 38 games and tallied 138 points. She had 19 steals in her career.

The Eagles finish the season 10-16 overall and 8-12 in PacWest play. Head coach
Lacey Burns, in her first season, helped the Eagles improve immensely from last season, totaling eight more wins than last year.

Next year the Eagles will compete fully as an NCAA Division II school and will be eligible for postseason play.
