Concordia Tennis Dominant Over Weekend

Costa Mesa, Calif. – Saturday was a dominant day for Concordia's Tennis teams, as they both hosted Holy Names University and came away with wins.
The men's team extended its win streak to three after earning a 7-2 win against Sonoma State on Friday. They then wrapped up the weekend on a positive note with a 6-3 victory over Holy Names. The wins bring their record to 4-2 on the season.
In doubles against Holy Names, the Eagle men sent out the team composed of
Man Hon Ko and
Erik Witzlinger in the second slot, while
Sten Boersma and
Otto Heinz represented Concordia's third team. The Eagle's second team took its match 8-6 and the third team worked its way to an 8-5 win.
The Concordia men took four out of six in single to finish the match and defeated the Hawks by an overall score of 6-3.
Till Guttenberger and Boersma were in the first two spots for the Eagles and both picked up tough wins.
The four and five spots were occupied by
Daniel Reddmann and
Man Hon Ko, who both earned wins for the Eagles.
Concordia's women got back on track with their 9-0 sweep against the Hawks on Saturday. The Eagles find themselves with a 5-2 record after the match.
The women took their matchup in convincing fashion and showed that they are a deep team by not dropping a single game.
This match marks the third time the Eagle women have swept a team 9-0 this season.
Concordia's Women's Tennis team will travel to La Jolla, CA. to take on UC San Diego on Tuesday, Feb. 28th at 2:00 PM. The Eagle men will have to wait till Thursday, Mar. 2nd to host BYU-Hawaii at 3:00 PM.
