Men's Lacrosse opened Southwestern Lacrosse Conference play with a resounding 18-1 win over Cal State San Marcos on Saturday. The Eagles jumped out to an 11-1 halftime lead and rode a second half shutout courtesy of Andrew Parese (5sv) for the win.

The Eagles opened the contest with an unassisted goal from Jonah Rinaldi as he split his defender and beat the San Marcos keeper.  The pace of the game slowed considerably from there as both the Eagles and Cougars seemed content to take their time on the offensive side of the ball.  Concordia tallied the 5 more goals, highlighted by Sean Goodell's finish just seconds before the final horn sounded in the first quarter.  San Marcos answered with their lone tally to open the second quarter, but the Eagles would score 12 straight to take the win.

The Eagles defense was dominant in the win, holding the Cougars scoreless for the final 43 minutes of the contest.  Andrew Parese was the player of the game for the Eagles with his second half shutout and 5 save performance.

Up Next:  The Eagles travel to Minnesota to take on 3 top ranked foes during spring break. The trip starts with #5 – St. John's (MN) at 7:00pm on Saturday.  CUI then takes on #3 North Dakota State on Sunday before finishing with #1 St. Thomas on Tuesday night.
