CU Arena was energetic, explosive and plain entertaining Saturday night during the Hawai'i Pacific Sharks and Concordia Eagle showdown. As two of the top teams in the PacWest Conference, the expectations were high - and the teams did not disappoint.

The game came down to the final seconds and the Sharks pulled out an 87-83 win.

Tad Dufelmeier dominated the court, posting 23 points with three assists and two steals. Senior Justin Davis had 20 points with three assists and one steal. Brian Chambers was clutch for Concordia all night, making 5-7 from the three-point range and totaling 19 on the night.

The battle between the two teams began instantly. With 6:07 remaining in the first half, the game was tied at 24. The Sharks took a small lead, and held on for a six point lead entering the break.

Davis ignited the Eagle offense at the start of the second with a three-pointer. One of Dufelmeier's crafty layups followed by three Geoff Gerlach points contributed to a five point run.

The momentum of the game shifted back and forth. The Eagles took a seven point lead with 15 minutes to play, but the tide quickly changed to a six point Shark lead four minutes later. The Eagles were chasing Hawai'i Pacific until they evened the score at 77 a piece with 1:56 to play on a lay up from Mike Mellinger. Although the Eagles came within one and knocked down their free throws to stay alive, Hawai'i Pacific's accurate shooting from the line allowed them to hold the lead to the buzzer.

Concordia now has a 13-9 overall record and 9-5 in conference. The Eagles return to CU Arena Monday to face BYU Hawai'i at 7:30 p.m.
