In the first ever meeting between USC and Concordia, the Eagles made short work of the Trojans by racing out to an early lead and holding for a 20-7 win.

The Eagles took command off the opening draw, where Mason Roth fed Brandon Mayo (4g) who blasted home an outside shot.  Face-offs were dominated all game by Bryant Hernandez (18/23) and Max Satossky (4/5), which allowed the Eagles to race out to a 9-2 halftime advantage.  The Eagles separated in the third period though, as they were led by Sean Goodell (3g,2a) and Jonah Rinaldi (2g, 3a) and finished the frame with up 16-3.  Pacing the midfield scoring were Logan Perry and Max Satossky, who finished with 3 each.

The Eagles shared the ball well offensively, but the key development this year is the Eagle defense. Led by Captains Richard Andow, Winston Robinson and Jake Pense, the Eagles gave up only 16 shots all game. The defensive unit stifled the Trojan attack all game and generated 12 caused turnovers.  Connor Reed was awarded player of the game honors for his performance at the Long Stick Midfield position.

"It was a great first outing and we are proud of the boys for their execution this early in the season," Head Coach Ryan Brent added.

Up Next: The Eagles get a rare early season break before returning to action to face SLC South Conference foe Cal State San Marcos at home, game time 2:00pm.
