Concordia Softball Head Coach Crystal Rosenthal has built a winning tradition on the field for the Eagles, and she has the numbers to prove it. She is already the winningest coach in program history, and has been building on this since 2015. She led the 2013 team to a NAIA National Championship and has a myriad of GSAC Titles and accomplishments. Friday, the Eagles' sweep over Vanguard University gave Rosenthal one more milestone - her 400th career win as the Eagles Head Coach.

The first win of the day put Rosenthal within one win of the 400 mark. Concordia took the matchup 4-1.

Ryann Ferguson led off the game with a single through the right side and moved to second on a bunt from McKinsey Thorpe. Amy Eilefson drove Ferguson home with a single to right field for the 1-0 lead.

Vanguard posted one run in the fifth, but the Eagles struck back in the sixth. With two down, Alyssa Turner singled to left field and then stole second. Nicole Chavez hit a single to bring Turner home. Lauren Rodriguez snagged the next RBI on a single to the short stop.

Concordia added its final run in the seventh. Ferguson hit another single and stole her way to third. Hannah Miller singled up the middle to score Ferguson.

Grayson Harvey clinched her 10th win of the season on six innings with three strikeouts. Jordan Quinn pitched the final inning to close things out for Concordia.

One win away from the 400 milestone, Vanguard gave the Eagles a closer game.

Vanguard scored one run on BethAnn McCann in the first, but she held them the rest of the day.

The Eagles tied the game in the second on two hits. Amanda Gjertsen doubled to right center and Kailey Palazzolo singled for a RBI. Concordia captured the go ahead run in the fourth when Turner singled to open up the inning and then stole second. She scored safely on a RBI single from Mackenzie Graham.

McCann managed Vanguard for six innings and struck out two for her eighth win.

Rosenthal and the Eagles are back in action Saturday for a PacWest double header against Academy of Art beginning at 12 p.m. at Eagles Field.
