Turner slams the door on the Urban Knights

After winning game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Eagles needed production at the plate to comeback from Academy of Art's 2-0 lead. Alyssa Turner took control when she stepped up with bases loaded. She knocked a grand slam out of Eagles Field to give the Eagles the 4-2 lead they did not relinquish the rest of the game.

The Urban Knights went up 2-0 early in the game, scoring once in the first and again in the third.

The Eagles loaded the bases for Turner in the fourth with two hits and some help from Academy of Art. McKinsey Thorpe singled to left field, Hanna Miller singled to the short stop, Amy Eilefson was hit by a pitch and Turner brought them home.

BethAnn McCann pitched a complete game for the Eagles. She went seven innings, allowed four hits and only two runs.

During the first game of the day, the Eagles battled back to claim the game 8-5 on another clutch hit.

The Eagles scored one run in the first and extended the lead to two on a solo homer from Nicole Chavez.

The Urban Knights changed the pace of the game in the third by scoring five runs on three hits. The Eagles demonstrated their poise once again, tying the game up at their next at bats.

Ryann Ferguson walked to open up the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. The Eagles received help from the Urban Knights. Thorpe reached on a wild pitch and Miller was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Eilefson came up next and was also hit by a pitch to bring a run across. With the bases still juiced, Amanda Gjertsen hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score one more. Turner walked and Chavez was hit to help the Eagles again with another run. The Eagles tied the game on a fielder's choice from Lauren Rodriguez's hit.

In the bottom of the fourth, Thorpe and Miller were on first and second for Eilefson. Eilefson hit a deep shot over the fence to give the Eagles a 8-5 winning lead.

Jordan Quinn earned her third win of the year. She pitched 4.1 innings and did not allow a single run.

The PacWest play continues Sunday against Academy of Art beginning at 12 p.m. at Eagles Field.
