Today's out of conference matchup between Concordia and Cal State San Bernardino was a back-and-forth battle that wouldn't be decided until the bottom of the ninth inning.

Isaiah Bettencourt got the start on the mound for the Eagles as CSUSB struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the first before the Concordia defense turned a double play to end the threat.

Concordia's offense began to chip away at the Coyote lead in the bottom of the third inning.Â
Dillon Millar led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Joey Thompson.Â
Chris Martin came to the plate next and sent a flare single into left field, knocking in Millar to bring the Eagles within one.

Morgan Brannock came on in relief and worked a scoreless third and fourth inning.Â

Josh Balbuena sparked the offense in the bottom of the fourth with a one-out double off the wall in right center.Â
Cade Temple came up clutch with two outs in the inning, singling down the right field line to tie the game at two.Â

Bailey Collins took over for Brannock in the top of the fifth and sat the Coyotes down in order in the inning, getting the Eagles back to the plate.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth,
Dominic Castro was awarded first base after being hit by a pitch.Â
Haloa Dudoit then hit a soft ground ball that rolled just in front of home plate, putting pressure on the CSUSB defense. The throw to first sailed over the first baseman's head and rolled all the way to the right field corner, allowing Dudoit to race all the way around the bases. This put the Eagles up 4-2.

Three hits and an error brought in three runs for the Coyotes in the top of the sixth.Â
Jason McLellan came in with two outs to get the Eagles out of the inning.

McLellan did not allow a hit in his next inning of work. He then handed the ball over to
Cade Temple who allowed a run before turning the ball over to
Carpenter Pagett.

Trailing 6-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Temple, moving back from pitcher to designated hitter, drew a walk and advanced on an error by the pitcher in a failed pickoff attempt.Â
Tony Garcia, who came into the game to replace Thompson, came up big with an RBI double. He took third on a passed ball and then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at six.

Pagett and the Eagle defense held the Coyotes in the top of the ninth to keep the game tied 6-6.

Castro led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk. A sacrifice bunt from Dudoit moved him to scoring position.Â
Jair Donovan was issued an intentional walk to put runners on first and second with one out as Balbuena came to the plate. An RBI single form Balbuena knocked in Castro and gave Concordia the win as the Eagles walked off against CSUSB.

Pagett earned the win and now has a 2-1 record on the season.

Dudoit continued his hitting streak, stretching it to six games with a single in the seventh inning. Balbuena and Millar each recorded two hits in the game.

The Eagles return to PacWest play this weekend as Hawaii Pacific comes to town. The four game series begins with a double header on Saturday and game one is slated for 12 p.m.
