Eagles Close out Season at PacWest Championships

The Women's Tennis Team wrapped up their 2017 season on Saturday at the PacWest Championships in Surprise, Ariz.  In the semifinals of the consolation bracket on Friday, the Eagles fell to Azusa Pacific, 5-1.  They dropped the seventh place match to Point Loma, 5-2, on Saturday.
 
CUI- 1 APU- 5
The Cougars swept Concordia in doubles on Friday to begin the match.  The No.1 team of Luma Schwab and Katherine Jensen fell 8-3.  No. 2 team Johanna Keeline and Samantha Schuster and No. 3 team Anastasiia Kuprina and Ashley Glick both put up quite a fight but were not able to overcome APU.  Keeline and Schuster fell 8-6 while Kuprina and Glick pushed the set before losing 9-7. 
 
Jensen had the only win in singles for the Eagles as she won in the six spot.  No. 2 Schwab and No. 3 Keeline both fell in straight sets to give the Cougars a 5-1 victory.

In a race for seventh place, the Eagles fell just short in a battle with Point Loma.  In doubles, the No. 2 team of Keeline and Schuster came out with an 8-6 win as the Eagles trailed 2-1 heading into singles.
 
The Eagles fell in straight sets in the five, four, three and six spots, respectively.  Kuprina and Schwab were both leading by one set in their matchups when the match concluded.
 
Concordia finishes with a record of 10-13 on the season.  Keeline finished the season with the best record on the team as she went 14-7.  The strongest doubles team this year, Keeline and Schuster, finished 11-6.
