Games slips away from Eagles with late Sunbird goals

The Eagles lost a close match to Fresno Pacific Friday at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center by a score of 7-6. Concordia is now 7-14 and 0-2 in conference competition.
Concordia took a 3-2 lead going into the half. Hanna Jordan posted a goal in the first while Emily Varisco and Shannon Graham each added one in the second quarter.
In the third, both teams delivered three goals. Varisco put away her second of the match and Kelley Geurts got two on the board for the Eagles.
With a slim one-goal lead over FPU, the teams entered the final period. The Sunbirds utilized strong defense to hold Concordia at six, but went on two post two fourth quarter goals for the win.
Concordia faces off with University of Pacific Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Irvine, Calif. at Woollett Aquatics Center.Â
